Samenvatting

Details and results of tests which are necessary in order to provide reliable design data for high-level lighting masts are given. It is shown that wind-excited oscillations do not occur to an unacceptable extend and that precautions are unnecessary. Appropriate wind force coefficients are deduced from wind-tunnel tests on a model. Measurements of the strength of door openings in a high-level mast show that the strength of the base section can be made adequate without special strengthening and that there is a considerable advantage in rounding the ends of the opening.
