Samenvatting

This paper discusses passenger reactions to information on train suspension in Japan. Some passengers would prefer to take alternative routes if they knew how long their delay would be. Passengers themselves were found to make their own estimations of delay based around the official estimation given. Satisfaction levels with the information given varied according to the margin of error. The authors propose an improved way to provide the time estimation to enable optimum satisfaction levels among passengers. For the covering abstract see ITRD E113725 (C 22328 CD-ROM).
