Research shows how to reduce visibility losses from veiling reflections.

Veiling reflection is caused by the reflection of the light source from the microscopic, mirror-like facets in penciled or printed characters and in the surface of paper bearing the characters. The various ways to reduce the effects of veiling reflection are discussed and the developed measuring instruments described.
