Samenvatting

In 1999, in France, before considering change in the drug legislation, the government wished to know more on the effect of illicit drugs on the risk of road crashes. A systematic screening of illicit drug on all drivers involved in fatal crashes between October 2001 and September 2003 was hence made compulsory. The objective of this analysis is to evaluate the relative risk of being responsible for a fatal crash while driving under the influence of alcohol and the main illicit psychoactive substances, among car drivers, and to explore the dose-response relationship of cannabis and/or alcohol.
