The publication discusses various aspects of the rest areas such as spacing, location, size parking facilities, buildings, convenience facilities, water supply, sewage disposal systems together with details of operation and maintenance. However, more data are needed concerning the number of vehicles that stop at rest areas (including number of persons per vehicle) in relation to total traffic and type of traffic.
