Samenvatting

This report attempts to reconcile the differences between the estimates of restraint usage produced by the Opinion Research Corporation's survey of drivers stopped at intersections in 19 cities and the estimate from the National Crash Severity Study's file of accident-involved occupants. This is done by an examination of the assumptions and conditions which are inherent in the different methods of data collection. Estimates are produced for a variety of accident and injury related factors: occupant sex, age, vehicle size, environment. etc.
