Review of head injury tolerance to direct impact.

Human tolerance literature pertaining to direct head impact is reviewed and discussed. The basis of different index systems are examined and the correlation of the various indices with the available data are demonstrated. The prediction of injury for various impact pulses when used with the variety of available criteria is determined.
