Samenvatting

Transport modelling has been with us for three decades and more, and during that time the theories of traffic flow and transport choice underlying the models have made considerable advances. This paper reviews the developments from the initial five step process (landuse, trip generation, trip distribution, modal split and assignment models) through to the present day. The procedures used to develop the interactions between these models, data requirements and the procedures for incorporating changes in time are also reviewed.
