A review of vehicle impact testing : how it began and what is being done.

After outlining the development of impact testing in the U.S.A. impact testing techniques are reviewed: full scale vehicle collisions, full-sized sled tests, and impact models together with anthropometric dummies, electronic, photographic and other instruments, and methods of data analysis.
