A review of vehicle inspection in relation to road safety.

The prominence of road accident fatalities amongst every kind of transportation accident fatalities is feflected by the fact that it made up 94 per cent of the total, leaving 6 per cent to the combined total of railway, water transport and aircraft accident. These figures indicate the reality of the problem, so that no effort should be spared to reduced the toll. One of the many available countermeasures is the compulsory inspection of motor vehicles in use for their roadworthiness. This problem is reciewed in this report.
