Samenvatting

One of the activities in the 1995 SWOV Institute for Road Safety Research Programme was the updating of traffic risk data for several road types, this data being known as the key risk indexes. This is the final report of this activity and as such integrates the results. The utilisation targets for the risk data are addressed according to road type. The road types included are: (a) motorways; (b) major arteries inside built-up areas; and (c) secondary and tertiary roads outside built-up areas. The most important data for all the types of roads and intersections are assembled. The tables contain the following three categories of risk indicators: (1) the number of injury accidents for every accidents for every million kilometres travelled by motorised road vehicles (both per calendar year); (2) the number of casualties per injury accident; and (3) the number of fatalities per casualty. For the number of injury accidents per million kilometres travelled by motorised road vehicles, the statistical upper and lower limits are also provided. See also C 7534 - 7537.
