This edition of the annual publication presents detailed statistics of road accidents in Great Britain and their resulting casualties. A calendar of events concerning road safety and traffic matters from 1903-1999 is presented (p. 119-122). Tables are provided showing statistics on vehicle population, accidents and accident rates classified (e.g. road class, type of vehicle, time of day and severity of the accident). A list of publications relating to road safety by the Transport Research Laboratory (TRL) published during 1999 is included (p. 126-128).
