The report is in 2 parts, the first dealing with bituminous binders, and the second with hydraulic binders. Under the heading of substitution of bitumen, the following materials are examines: coal tar, sulphur, plastics, ligning and natural rocks impregnated with hydrocarbon products. Special chapters deal with the alteration of the characteristics of bitumen (modified by polymers or rubber wastes), emulsions and pavement recycling. As to the hydraulic binders, the study reviews low energy cement, sub-products or natural materials with hydraulic or pozzolanic properties and marginal aggregates.
