Samenvatting

TPEG is a bearer-independent protocol for broadcast of traffic and travel telematics services. TPEG is being developed by Committee B/TPEG of the EBU in Geneva. The protocol provides a structured basis for the creation of applications. The first application under development is Road Event Messages. TPEG adopted ILOC referencing as its premier method for location coding. A new hierarchical approach to event coding is being developed, which takes into account all earlier work in this field. This paper describes the Road Event Messages application, with a special focus on location referencing and event coding. For the covering abstract see IRRD E102946.
