Samenvatting
The paper describes the place of transportation planning and the associated research effort in the overall planning efforts of developing countries. It is emphasized that transportation is only useful in as far as it serves the overall development of a country and the successful planning of transportation depends upon the quality of planning and data provision in other sectors of the economy.
