Samenvatting
The present paper deals with the contribution of the National Department of Highways to the development of highways in Brazil and specifically, with its efforts to stem the growing number of according on the highways. Highway safety measures as road safety campaigns, traffic education programs on schools, industrial plants and institutions are described.
