Samenvatting

The fight against road accident require considerable and continuous investment in better roads, better vehicles and better trained and informed road users. Developing countries are badly placed to afford considerable and continuous investment in almost everything. But there is a growing realisation that road accidents are an unwelcome side effect of the increasing movement of people and goods which accompanies economic growth. This paper presents the role which road safety research done in the developed countries can do for the developing countries.
