This issue of Current Topics includes over 60 abstracts of reports, conference papers, books and journal articles which focus on road traffic safety education for road users such as child pedestrians, cyclists, motorcyclists, elderly drivers and elderly pedestrians. Specific subjects include the place of road safety education in the school curriculum; safety education of children, parents and the community, the operation and assessment of safety awareness campaigns, training initiatives and intervention programs for traffic offenders. These items have been selected from the material added to the TRL Library Database between 1999 and 2002. Much of the relevant English language published literature from the UK, USA, Australia and Europe is included; some of the non-UK literature is included courtesy of the OECD International Transport Research Documentation (ITRD) database.
