Samenvatting

This report provides a summary of the relationship between crash risk, and geometric design elements. Bibliographic and web sources addressing the relationships between geometric standards and crash risk were assessed, and values are derived for ‘best’ estimates for use in Australian and New Zealand environments. The report covers relationships between crash risk and standards for lanes and shoulders, horizontal curve radius, vertical grade, sight distance on crest vertical curves, and roadside design.
