Samenvatting

All too often, motorists behave incorrectly and many road structures are inadequate. The use of the car in traffic involves a certain number of risks that require the drivers to have a certain ability to deal with them appropriately. We feel that, in Europe, society's commitment to these themes is still insufficient. Institutions, schools and the various mobility operators are perhaps not doing enough. Fiat feels that this problem should be raised and given as much attention as possible, in the conviction that mobility should be pursued in the safest possible conditions. We intend to dedicate ourselves to the commitment of road safety by proposing a debate, taking innovative positions, preparing tools, including some not relating to vehicles in the strict sense, but rather to their safe use. This commitment is made in accordance with our awareness of our responsibilities as manufacturers and on the basis of the design and technological skills that we are acknowledged as possessing. The aim of our undertaking is to remove a wall/screen of acceptance and apathy on subjects too often endured rather than controls. We, too, intend to contribute to a higher and more keenly felt need for road safety with various proposals: not only designing and producing safe vehicles but also actively contributing to the action of government bodies, working in the area of training and communication (to raise awareness among and educate users, particularly young people), and participating in international initiatives and programmes.
