Samenvatting
This short article presents some illustrated examples of bad road signing in the United Kingdom. These include signs which: a) both direct the driver to turn right, while forbidding him to do so; b) no warning of sharp bends; c) inadequate directions, where a driver is invited to pick a destination on one sign, only to find that there is no further indication of how to get there at the next junction. A 1989 analysis indicates that the time wasted by drivers getting lost in London costs £35 million per year.
