This paper deals with what effect a strike at Norway'sState-operated Wine and Spirits btonopoly had on road acte-.dents doe to dronken driving. The hypotheses was that adrop in overall consumption should result in a reductionin the number of dronken drivers and also in the nuaber ofaccidents. The results, however, show that the reduced a-vailability of alcohol during the strike did not resultin any demonstrable drop in the number of dronken drivers.
