Samenvatting
The purpose of this paper is to present the main features of the epidemic of road traffic accidents in the European region. It is based on routine official statistical information. There are two principle sources: (1) Statistics on people killed or injured in traffic accidents, generally compiled from official police records; and (2) Statistics on the causes of deaths due to accidents, compiled from medical certificates of cause of death.
