Samenvatting
This paper covers several separate but linked issues in the roads and road freight industries, outlining recent achievements and current areas of concern. Opportunities for maintaining and building on the improvements of the 1980's include: defining a truly national highways system; maintaining the real value of development funds;distribution according to economic need, not politics; and improvements to the heavy vehicle industry, particularly driver education.
