The areas of research highlighted are: (1) for concentration of financial and material funds a network of preferential maintenance including approximately 40 percent of the total network of roads has been decided, (2) for reconstruction and new building of roads energy- optimizing construction systems are applied, (3) at present time the cad- technique is being prepared for the design of roads, (4) to achieve further increase in traffic safety, investigations at junction points have been carried out based on behavioural science and traffic psychology, (5) newly developed devices on light- weight equipment carrier tractors are used for further mechanization of maintenance works.
