Samenvatting
The paper explores the design of future roads for evolving road traffic by studying firstly, the causes of the current situation; secondly, the factors likely to cause future change and thirdly, the consequences of that change. Basic conclusions are reached. Of all these, the operation of automatic pricing systems will be the major development in terms of observable influence and concomitant effects.
