The main emphasis in creating and improving the urban road network in the USSR is focused on raising the efficiency of the transport service for the population, ensuring safe and comfortable traffic conditions for both vehicles and pedestrians, as well as on the improvement of urban environment. The report summarizes the requirements for the design of urban streets and motorways and shows the main trends in improving the techniques of urban road construction.
