Samenvatting

Large scale disasters, such as floods and fires, cause many casualties. By evacuating people from the threatened region, the risk of casualties is reduced. Evacuations are characterized by a high level of uncertainty, like uncertainty in the behavior of the people who will be evacuated. This thesis presents methods that optimize evacuation guidance, consisting of instructions for the people on when and where to go. The resulting guidance is robust regarding the uncertainty and efficient. (Author/publisher)
