Samenvatting

This paper aims to describe the objectives of the tribology investigation activities on the automotive internal combustion engine with the purpose of minimizing friction losses and noise. After an introduction on the most meaningful theoretical and experimental results achieved by numerous researchers, the mathematical models developed by the authors in relationship to the main lubricated components are presented.
