Samenvatting

Although the current U.S. legislation for bumper energy-absorbing systems requires the use of recoverable systems, there are many areas where one-shot devices may be very cost effective in improving the safety performance of the vehicle. In particular, an extrusion device behind a soft front of recoverable shock-absorber system, may offer the cheapest means of providing vehicle and passenger protection in high speed impacts.
