Samenvatting

Due to the relatively high center of gravity of most heavy vehicles, the possibility of rollover vaulting is always present when such a vehicles collides with a barrier. An improved rollover vaulting algorithm (RVA) has been developed. The RVA program can monitor: the angular orientation of the vehicle during and after the initial impact; the respective angular rates of the vehicle center of gravity during redirection; the trajectory of the magnitude of the initial impulse between vehicle and barrier; and the tire / suspension reaction forces during redirection of the vehicle.
