Samenvatting
After a short introduction into vehicle navigation systems both presently available and under development, this paper discusses the information which digital road maps will need to allow efficient route choice with autarkical navigation systems. Close cooperation with local authorities is needed in order to integrate their traffic planning considerations into the necessary road classification system, thereby ensuring that these requirements are incorporated in route calculations.
