Samenvatting

This report gives the results of an analysis of road distribution in Kenya. A tentative model has been evolved which, for a given area and population, calculates the required length of road to give minimum transport cost. It is hoped that the model will be useful in the preliminary identification of areas that should be given priority for detailed study of road investment needs. Results from Ghana, Nigeria and Kenya show that the historical development of their road system has closely followed the model.
