Samenvatting

The grip of oil-extended natural rubber winter tyres made of both cross-ply and radial-ply construction has been assessed during three separate trials. Results presented show that oil-extended natural rubber has better grip than conventional high hysteresis synthetic tyre treads and may even perform better than studded conventional tyres on some occasions. The use of such tyres would make a contribution to road safety under winter conditions.
