Safety and the design process. Proefschrift Technische Universiteit Delft TUD.

The objective of this dissertation is to improve the scientific approach to safety problems by disconnecting their analysis and modelling from the question of blame. To achieve prevention safety should be included from the beginning as an explicit feed- forward constraint in the engineering design process. The dissertation therefore makes a distinction between social attention and scientific attention to safety.
