Safety and security in private sector housing schemes. A study of layout design considerations.

The main aim of the study described here was to investigate relationships between the physical characteristics of road layouts, the incidence and nature of reported and unreported accidents and near misses, and residents'opinions about safety for pedestrians and drivers. Besides it investigated the accessibility and vulnerability of houses in relation to the incidence of crime and vandalism and residents'opinion about security.
