This paper discusses the road safety benefits of using rumble strips. The paper presents an international review of the safety benefits of the various applications of rumble strips - that is: as edge line delineation, transversely across the road, and at temporary work sites. The report includes recent findings on effectiveness in Australia and New Zealand and recommendations for use of rumble strips on New Zealand roads. (A)
