Samenvatting

The introduction of integrated circuit (IC) cards makes it possible to coordinate payment systems within the transport sector (and, of course, with other sectors). The advantages for the road user are obvious - he can use one card to pay for public transport; at car parks, at toll roads, for fuel, and so on. Such a system also promotes traffic demand management and if RTI (Road Traffic Informatics) is introduced on a commercial basis, implementation is facilitated if a payment system exists. The paper briefly describes a project in Stockholm. The object is to investgate organizational and administrative solutions for implementation of a coordinated payment system. This, in turn, forms a basis for a description forms a basis for a description of the technological prerequisites. The paper discusses some of these problems and their solutions.
