Samenvatting

Accident reconstruction requires the determination of vehicle movements during all phases of an accident. The modern approach to this task is heavily dependent on the quantitative data collected during the lead up and progress through an accident. The paper describes the basic architecture and technology for an in-vehicle data instrumentation and recording system to obtain this data. Data analysis is performed post-accident using specialised software and some results are given which illustrate the reconstruction process. System reliability is of major importance because of the possibilities for legal application. (A)
