Samenvatting

Construction projects are commonly scheduled using the critical path method with the assumption that resource provision is not restricted (i.e. no machine breakdown is assumed and there is no problem with labour supply). An easier method, called the positional weight method, for both unlimited and limited resources is presented. There is no need to determine the critical path, and hence the problems associated with determining total floats, slack time, and the like are no longer present. The method has been applied for scheduling assembly line manufacturing. Because there are similarities between assembly line manufacturing and construction projects, especially linear projects, the method can be applied to construction
