Samenvatting

Safety devices currently used for schoolchildren pedestrians in South Australia are described, and some characteristics of accidents involving them are examined. The two main devices used are compared, based on relative exposure levels. While flashing light school crossings appear to present less risk than SCHOOL signs for primary schoolchildren, there is no similar distinction for those of secondary school age.
