Samenvatting

Road safety is an issue that affects everyone in Scotland. We all need to use the roads to get around - to school, to work, to the doctor, to the shops, to the cinema. Most of us use the roads every day, as drivers, passengers, cyclists and pedestrians, and for many people driving is the main part of their job. It is essential, therefore, to ensure that, as far as possible, we can all use the roads in safety. The Scottish Government is committed to making the roads in Scotland safer for everyone. To this end it is proposed to develop a strategy for improving road safety over the next 10 years. This document introduces five themes which set out key issues affecting road safety in Scotland and seeks your views on how to build on already existing good practice and help plan the best way forward.
