Creating a functional display wall in traffic management centres (TMC) is a daunting task. With a variety of inputs, maintenance requirements and ergonomic considerations, it is remarkable that it can be done in as little as four days. The key components of a large screen display wall system are the display devices, the controller, and the interface equipment. This article describes their implementation, and notes the installation of display systems in five of the seven Highways Agency regional control centres, monitoring the trunk road network in the UK.
