Samenvatting

The Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test (AUDIT) is designed to identify individuals at risk from alcohol problems including alcohol dependence. The first 3 questions concern quantity and frequency of drinking and include a) how often do you have a drink containing alcohol and b) how many drinks containing alcohol do you have on a day when you are drinking. A combination of the results provides a profile of the individual's drinking pattern. This paper assesses the accuracy of AUDIT questions 1 and 2 in screening trauma centre patients for current alcohol dependence.
