Samenvatting

The report gives details of the results of investigations into some 1,100 accidents in the UK. The investigation team studied in detail the injuries received by all the vehicle occupants. Where possible the vehicles were examined at the site of the accident. The results showed that seat belt wearers had substantially fewer injuries than those not wearing seat belts. Accidents in which the vehicle structure was forced into the body compartment were a cause of injury to seat belt wearers.
