Samenvatting
The impact of a passenger vehicle, a 3600-lb four-door sedan, into a safety-shaped concrete median barrier, at a speed of 40 miles per hour and an angle of 45 degrees is described. The barrier, vehicle and occupant dynamics are discussed with respect to the standards presented in NCHRP Report 230. The behaviors of the two dummy occupants, one wearing a lap belt/shoulder strap, the other not, are compared. (Author/publisher)
