Samenvatting
A chronological account of the development of seat belt legislation and its effect in the province of Ontario are given. The government's interest in seat belt usage and the subsequent studies of their use in other countries where they are mandatory; the implementation of these laws and the simultaneous public awareness and acceptance process; the public versus driver reaction and problems encountered in the adoption of such legislation are mentioned.
