Body height, body weight and socio-economic class of a sample of 4489 conscripts, 18-19 years of age, have been taken from cohort 1933 to cohort 1978, with 5 years intervals. Mean body height at 18 increased from 1730 cm in 1933 to 180. 5 cm in 1978. Mean body weight increased from 61. 5 kg in 1933 to 70. 0 kg in 1973, at which time it stabilised. There was a difference in increase in height and weight regarding the socio-economic class.
