Samenvatting

There is no doubt about a political willingness acting in favour of traffic safety. This has been illustrated in Tunisia by the designation of a number of institutions dealing adequately to: improve road safety; reduce road accidents; provide a volume of expenditures mainly used for user awareness programmes; and to improve road infrastructure. Short-term and low cost traffic safety measures were implemented in order to attain a society of road users that is safe and smooth-flowing. (A) The English title of the paper is: "Road safety in Tunisia : problems and solutions".
