Samenvatting

Advanced driver assistance systems require a new quality of vehicle sensors and sophisticated signal processing to get more complex information on the vehicle status, the state of the road and the state of the driving environment. In this paper different approaches of sensing techniques have been described. Even if it can not be expected for the near future because of the complexity of car driving and driving scenes, that the quality and reliability of the information received from such sensor systems will be sufficient enough to replace the driver fully by automatic systems, they nevertheless offer a wide range of new possibilities for driver support.
